An ancient form of dye, henna has been used for many centuries to tint skin and colour hair. Extracted from a plant, henna comes in powder form which when mixed with water, creates a natural dye perfect for tinting eyebrows. The Pros? The colour lasts brilliantly, there’s a large spectrum of shades to choose from and it works beautifully on both skin and hair. For many clients, it reduces the need to fill in brows at all, leaving a gorgeous matte finish.

Henna is gentle on the skin and can be easily applied to almost everyone. It’s the perfect option for filling gaps in brows, correcting brow shape and adding fullness. It’s also a great way to save time filling in eyebrows each morning. If you are finding your regular tint is fading too quickly or not giving you the right colour tone, try henna, it’s the perfect alternative.
Some things that may prevent you from having a henna brow treatment:
- A known allergy to henna
- Skin infections around the area
- Fake tan applied within 24 hours ( as the product will react )

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
To prepare your skin for a henna brow treatment, please ensure your skin is thoroughly cleaned before you arrive with no oily residue left on the surface. Avoid exfoliating the area within a few days before your treatment ( as well as post treatment ) as henna stains the skin and will adhere to the dead skin cells.
Henna is applied much like regular tint. Your therapist will use a fine brush to apply the henna which is a liquid consistency. As it will stain everything it touches, it’s important to stay still while it’s being applied. Once dry, your therapist will cleanse the henna from your brows and conditions them with a brow serum.
Henna sculpting can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the shade you’re looking to achieve and if you’re having them tidied up (sculpted) during the treatment.
If your therapist shows you the results and you wish for them to be darker, an extra layer can easily be applied to create a deeper colour.
POST TREATMENT CARE
The aftercare instructions for this treatment are very important in ensuring your brow colour lasts as long as possible. Skin type does play a big part in the longevity of your henna tint and those with oily skin may see their brow colour fade sooner. It’s extremely important to keep your brows dry for 48 hours post treatment. After that, your brows can be wet but avoid rubbing or exfoliating the area – brushing them is fine. Oil based products will fade the henna faster, so avoid applying oily products to your brow area.
